Yuri I. Wolf - Graduated from Moscow State University (Biology) in 1989; got PhD in the Institute of Cytology and Genetics (Genetics) in 1996; currently working in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (E.V. Koonin's group) in Bethesda, MD.

Kira S. Makarova - Graduated from Novosibirsk State University (Biology) in 1991; got PhD in the Institute of Cytology and Genetics (Genetics) in 1996; currently working in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (E.V. Koonin's group) in Bethesda, MD.

We are amateurs, interested mostly in outdoor photography.

Names and Dates. Each image on the site has it's unique ID, showing the (approximate) date the picture was taken. The majority of the IDs fall into one of these two categories:

• 04j0210: 04 - Year (2004, last two digits); j - Month (October, [Jan..Dec] are [a..l]); 02 - Film roll (#02, two digits); 10 - Frame number (#10, two digits).
• 05e29n9299: 05 - Year (2005, last two digits); e - Month (May, [Jan..Dec] are [a..l]); 29 - Day (29th, two digits); n - Camera source (Nikon, single letter); 9299 - File number, assigned by camera (#9299, four digits).
